Religion and ethics

NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.

During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school鈥檚 available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it鈥檚 available.

You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the听听available at participating schools.

Special Religious Education (SRE)

At 探花视频, SRE is delivered on a Thursday from 11:05am throughout Terms 1-4 for Years 7-10 by approved providers. A list of Department approved providers can be found at:

Each Year 7 group in Term 3 will be given an SRE participation letter in which parents can nominate their child鈥檚 participation. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE should be given to the school office, in writing.

Christian SRE

Christian SRE is provided by SRE teachers from different Christian denominations and churches. The approved providers in this combined arrangement are the Anglican Diocese of Sydney, C3 Church Australia, Presbyterian Church of Australia. All Christian SRE teachers are authorised and trained by an approved provider. The authorised curriculum is provided by .

Catholic SRE

Catholic SRE is provided by the Our Lady of Fatima Parish Caringbah. All Catholic SRE teachers are authorised and trained by the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney. The authorised curriculum is provided by

Greek Orthodox SRE

Greek Orthodox SRE is provided by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. All Greek Orthodox SRE teachers are authorised and trained by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. The authorised curriculum is provided by .

During the time that SRE classes are being held, students not attending will be located in a separate space and will participate in Non-Scripture.
